Screen rendering & color accuracy

All colors on Coloripedia are rendered in the sRGB color space. The appearance of a color on your screen depends on:
  • Your monitor's color gamut and calibration settings
  • Your operating system's color profile settings
  • Ambient lighting conditions
  • Whether you have a wide-gamut display (P3, AdobeRGB)
Two correctly calibrated displays can render the same hex code noticeably differently. Coloripedia makes no guarantee that the color you see matches the canonical appearance of a named color.

For professional color work: Always verify against physical swatches (Pantone swatch books, RAL fan decks, NCS fan decks) and use a hardware-calibrated, color-managed workflow.
🎨

Pantone® color values

Pantone® hex and RGB values on Coloripedia are derived from Pantone's published coated (C) swatch equivalents and are provided for reference only. Pantone colors are designed for physical print reproduction using specific inks. The RGB/hex equivalents are the closest digital approximation — they will not perfectly match a Pantone swatch when printed.

Pantone LLC does not endorse or certify Coloripedia's color values. Coloripedia is not affiliated with, authorized, or sponsored by Pantone.

RAL color values

RAL color values on Coloripedia are approximate RGB conversions of RAL Classic and RAL Design codes. RAL colors are industrial standards designed for physical paint, powder coat, and surface finishes. Screen-rendered RGB approximations will differ from physical RAL samples due to the inherent limitations of RGB displays and the wider gamut of many RAL colors.

Color psychology

Content about color psychology, emotional associations, and cultural meanings on Coloripedia is provided for educational and informational purposes. Color perception is deeply subjective and varies significantly across cultures, individuals, and contexts. Psychological responses to color documented in Western research may not apply universally.

We do not recommend making medical, therapeutic, or clinical decisions based on color psychology information from this site.
📐

Tool accuracy

Color conversion tools (hex to RGB, RGB to CMYK, etc.) implement standard mathematical formulas and are accurate within floating-point rounding. The results are appropriate for screen design and development work.

CMYK values derived from RGB are mathematical approximations only. Professional print CMYK values depend on ink, paper stock, and print profile and must be managed in a professional color-managed print workflow.

The Contrast Checker implements the WCAG 2.1 relative luminance formula. Results are mathematically accurate but accessibility compliance should always be validated in context — pass/fail ratios do not guarantee readability for all users in all conditions.
